YMCA Hub Facility
Calgary, AB | Completed 2018 | YWCA
The YWCA hub facility is a five storey mixed use building located in Calgary, Alberta. The building has a range of uses including daycare, office, and temporary residences for women fleeing domestic violence. The structure is primarily cast in place concrete however a portion of the office area at the main entrance is in structural steel.
The architectural design of this area required long spans, inset facades, and open space requirements for office uses. Due to these requirements, a structural steel Vierendeel truss frame system was used. Throughout the rest of the building, extensive coordination was required to accommodate the various uses effectively.
